… I have been suffering with M.E. for over 20 years but have been really struggling in recent years from a relapse after my wife suddenly left due to mental health issues. Understandably, my life has been going through some major shifts recently, trying to assess where I go from here.
My circumstances were made worse through neighbour/housing problems (noise issues, local children, etc) leaving me feeling very trapped and isolated. For the past year I have been looking to move home and ‘start afresh’…
I have often thought along the lines of what you describe concerning suitable housing and on-the-doorstep facilities, with community, for those with M.E. I even had wild thoughts of something similar to Centre Parcs where there could be individual dwellings in community with various amenities nearby, along with therapeutic treatments/activities, etc.
As difficult as I find daily life at the moment, (and I do struggle living alone in some respects), I want to belong to something good and positive that helps those with this condition. Yet due to limitations, especially visual/cognitive including driving, I still struggle to find my place.
I am certainly very interested in learning more about your ‘project’. Thank you.“
Summary of Vision
I believe there is a need for suitable housing communities tailored to the needs of people with M.E. and similar conditions with CNS sensitivities; focused on peace, respite, energy management, in a suitable caring environment and community; maybe something with elements of Centre Parcs and a retirement village, with local amenities nearby and a focus on therapeutic treatments/activities around nature, allowing for independence and personal space, within a supportive environment.
